Become a Volunteer

Volunteers keep the “FREE” in The Free Clinic. Volunteer support keeps costs low, enabling us to provide quality medical, dental and behavioral health care for those who might otherwise go without care.

Free Clinic of Central Virginia has a Centralized Call Center (appointment phone line) to find the best day and time for your visit. Your phone call is very important to us.

The Free Clinic provides prescription medications and diabetic supplies for current Free Clinic patients only. Medications must be prescribed by a Free Clinic volunteer or staff provider. The Free Clinic Pharmacy has a wide variety of medication for infections, diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, high cholesterol, asthma and other common illnesses. The Free Clinic Pharmacy does not carry controlled substances or narcotics.

The Free Clinic Pharmacy is staffed by volunteer pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.  Pharmacists are on duty an average of two days per week, for a total of about 5 hours. Therefore, please allow 7 to 10 days for your prescription to be filled.

State and federal laws prohibit the Free Clinic from accepting donated medications.
